Sheets, Shows, and Shirt Folding...

/Sigh

No time for a full post today...so, how about another 'thinking points' post?

- In my opinion, the Sims 4 isn't really worth the money [or the internet connection that's required for installation!]. Sure, the graphics are better and there are new aspects that have been introduced to make the gameplay a little smoother...but it's pretty much the same as all of its predecessors. Though, I guess I didn't really expect otherwise.

- Are any of you familiar with the Whisper app? There are some...umm...interesting people on there, for sure.

- My sister has gotten me hooked on Gossip Girl. So...much...drama! [And fantastic clothes!]

- My kiddo seems to be having some anxiety about his new school...he's such a precious cinnamon bun and it breaks my heart for me to hear him say that he doesn't have any friends. School hasn't even been in for a full week yet, though. So, I'm hoping things get better for him within a day or two.

- Some people just don't know how to let things go. Very annoying.

- I bought some 'grown up' sheets over the weekend. I'd laughed at the thought of actually considering a thread count before buying sheets...but now I see the error of my ways! My new sheets are the best sheets ever!!!! They're seriously comfy! Here's looking at you, Egyptian cotton!

- Last week, I played through the latest chapter of TellTale's Game of Thrones. I'm distraught at some
of the decisions that the game forced me to make...why, TellTale? Why?!?

- I've been reading "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up" by Marie Kondo...I'm beyond ready to clear all of the junk and unnecessary clutter out of my life! I'm about halfway finished with her book and I'm dying to go ahead and get started implementing her genius methods...but I know I should finish reading it first so that the clearing-out doesn't end up being a half-hearted venture. Whenever you guys get a minute though, you should look-up her suggested technique for folding shirts...this lady is a genius!

Okey dokey...I apologize for the randomness of this quasi-post, but it's all I've got for now. Will post again soon!

Leaving this video here because "Sheets of Egyptian Cotton" is stuck in my head...and I always find myself humming it while shopping for sheets.

Swiffer Mops Suck...

Over the last couple of years I've lived in a handful of different apartments. Each place was a little bit different, but there was one thing that I kept relatively consistent: I used a Swiffer Vac and Swiffer Mop on the hard floors.

Looking back, I have no idea why I so stubbornly used the same products...they suck! [And not in the good way that you'd expect a vacuum cleaner should!]

Not too long ago, my mom loaned me a Shark steam cleaner thing [I don't know which model exactly...] and I finally got around to using it on my kitchen floor today...the difference is so great that I'd almost feel justified writing a letter to Swiffer demanding a refund!

These things are great!
My current apartment has some pretty heinous vinyl tiles in the kitchen. They're this terrible swirl of beige and grey...definitely wouldn't be my choice. For as long as I've been living here, I've always used a Swiffer vacuum to get all of the debris and such and then mopped with a Swiffer mop.

I will never use a Swiffer mop again.

The steam from the Shark cut through layers of residue from the Swiffer mop's cleaning spray...I had no idea that it even left that much residue! And I also discovered that there was quite the hefty deposit of dirt tracked in by the door. I'd Swiffer mopped the area often and it never improved...so I'd concluded that the vinyl was old and discolored...and I was wrong. Eww. /shudder

So if you've got the ability...go and get one of these Shark thingies for your hard floors! They're amazing!

Cleaning and Depression...

Hey guys, hope you're having a fantastic Sunday morning...

I've made it my mission to get some serious cleaning accomplished today. Between working and parenting/entertaining my kiddo, it seems to me that clutter tends to accumulate way too quickly...my living room can go from company host-worthy presentable to "what happened in here?!?" in about two afternoons!

CLEAN ALL THE THINGS!!!
Truthfully, I don't mind cleaning all that much. I actually sort of like it! I think it's because cleaning is a task that renders immediate results...I know that if I put, say, an hour's worth of effort into cleaning up clutter, that within that hour, the clutter will be gone. Much, much more gratifying than other things...like exercise. I can exercise for an hour a day, and it would be weeks before there are any noticeable changes. Weeks! /sigh...so, yeah...lots of cleaning will be done today.

Plus, keeping a 'clean home' does wonders for helping to combat depression. I know myself, and I know that on my personal depression scale, I'm doing okay right now...but, I know what's coming.

I know that I'm a few 'bad days' away from hitting some potentially dark lows, and for the sakes of myself, my kiddo, and my family...I need to try and stave the beast off. I've learned the hard way that nothing truly good ever comes from my bouts of depression and I owe it to the people that care about me to put some effort into managing my depression.

I know that the concept of [ decluttered house = decluttered mind ] might sound far-fetched to some that aren't familiar with the idea, but I promise that it's an actual phenomenon.

How Keeping A Clean House Helps Depression

There are several articles on it floating around the internet, here's the link to one of them. Check it out!
