Oh, Hey! I'm Back!

Wow, it's been a long time since I've last posted...probably the longest lapse in posts since I've started this blog...which is kind of funny, one of my last posts celebrated this blog making it for a year...

Here's what all has been going on with me since I last posted:

- I finally moved out of my apartment! You know, the one with the terrible neighbors? [For funsies, read thisthisthisor this. All of which are lovely reminders of just how not-lovely my apartment experience has been]

  • The new apartment has been much better, in regards to noxious neighbors. However, the management staff is terrible. I don't know if they're all virtually brand new or just incompetent...but it's infuriating, either way. Plus, I'd paid for a couple month's worth of 'luxury-grade' amenities and hadn't been able to use them, at all, for various office-bungling reasons. Sooooo, yeah. That's been a hoot.
  • I managed to hire the worst moving company in the world. Seriously, guys...it was awful. And expensive. And I still had to move a ton of stuff by myself. Worst movers ever!
  • And because Charter is a terrible company with terrible customer service...I don't have any cable or internet at my new place. I've had 4 appointments with them...2 were flat-out missed without so much as a phone call from the technician or Charter's office. 1 was botched because the tech was ill-prepared and the other was with a tech who left in the middle of the install without even saying he was leaving. Seriously. He didn't even call in to say he had left the job either. Sooooo fed up with Charter right now.
- With moving to a new apartment comes moving kids to a new school zone...that's how it is where I live, anyway. [I'd hate to be the one that's responsible for drafting up the zoning map] So, I've been trying to register the kiddo with his new school and it's been needlessly complicated. Last I heard from his school's registrar, things are good to go, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the first day of school goes smoothly...

- Work has been crazy busy! I can typically find time to write out a quick post between working on reports, but that hasn't been the case for quite some time now...

- And for a bit of good news, I'm no longer a vehicular hobo!! Yep! I've finally got a car to replace the one that I wrecked last year...on my birthday

- And, finally, my birthday was last week. I turned 30 and I hate it. But, let's not make a big deal out of it, okay? Thanks!

Birthday, ignored. Got it!

What's the Word, Hummingbird?...

I don't really have a particular post topic in mind today, so I'm going to update you guys on some of the stuff going on with yours truly!
/thumbs up  Awesome!

I'm still working on getting my car situation resolved. I'm supposed to be getting a check from my insurance company sometime this week...fortunately/unfortunately, this time of year is right around the time car manufacturers release next year's models. This could work out in my favor, some of the 'old' models will probably go on sale. On the flip side, if I buy a 'new' car, say either 2013 or 2014 model, then in a few weeks, it could potentially be a 'two-year old car.' You know...if you're looking at it as a 2013 and there's a 2015 sitting right next to it...it won't matter that my car would be just as new as the 2015, to the rest of the world it's already two years old. Personally, it wouldn't matter to me that much...but I'm pretty sure that it would become important if I ever had to re-sell the car. So, the car hunt continues...sort of...it will probably pick back up again in a few days after I have the funds to make car shopping sort of feasible.

My kiddo's school is having a fund raising function tonight! A local restaurant is donating a portion of all of their proceeds from 4pm-9pm today, so that's pretty cool. It's a little place that I've been wanting to try out for some time now, so that'll be fun. I'm thinking that I will probably run into some other parents while I'm there, so I should probably start warming up my risorius muscles! [Not sure where the risorius muscles are? Hint: I bet you use them everyday!]

Risorius is highlighted!

The risorius muscles are responsible for the 'fake smile.' You know, that one that can be found in millions and millions of selfies, yearbook photos, work-related meetings, and dysfunctional family gatherings!

Umm, what else...

Wow...I'm so used to having a million things going on, I feel like I must be missing something whenever I can't immediately think of a dozen things that require my attention...

A 'Bloater'...great. /cry
Haven't been gaming much lately [okay...not at all, actually...], but seeing as it's because I'm spending time with the kiddo and on getting stuff for work done, I don't view that as a negative at all. Plus, this big hunk of nasty is the next thing I have to face in The Last of Us...last time I played, I left Joel in an especially precarious situation...no Clicker-killing shanks, no stealth-killing arrows, and about 6 bullets...it's not gonna be pretty.

I'm still watching Fairy Tail...It's still pretty good. I am a bit bummed that I finished all of the episodes that Netflix had to offer. There's more seasons available on HuluPlus, but they've got all those darn commercials! I'm seriously considering canceling my Hulu account and starting on one Crunchyroll. I've been told that if you're a paid subscriber to Crunchyroll, that there aren't any ads...can anyone confirm/deny this? [Read: I'd  like to know but don't really want to look it up...]

Okay, guys...I think that just about brings most things up to present...I'll let you know how the fund raising thing goes!

Okaythanksbye!!

Saab News and New Anime...

Sad news guys...

Cue up the ridiculously sad Sarah McLachlan Song ("I Will Remember You")...

Heard back from my car insurance company this morning, and the Saab is going to have to be totaled. So sad for my poor lil car :( I have to go in a little bit and get the rest of my things out of its trunk. (They clipped the battery wire at the site of the collision so I wasn't able to get the trunk open that day)

So, as I'm sure you guessed, I'm bummed. And now I have to figure out what I'm going to do for a car...

Small bit of good news, the insurance is going to pay almost twice what I had originally expected. (yay!) But it still won't be enough to get a decent vehicle. (Boo!) Either today or tomorrow I guess I need to go to a financial institution and figure out what sort of vehicle I could reasonably afford. (Thank goodness that I'll have the car insurance reimbursement to use as a sorts of down payment.)

By my estimations, these are cars that I will probably be able to afford:

Now would probably be a good time to mention that I am horrible at estimations...although, I did manage to correctly guess the amount of jelly beans in a jar one time...by accident.

To sort of temper the quasi-bad news, I've started watching another amazing Anime!

Hooray for Anime!
It's really good! Hilariously funny, it follows the exploits of wizards in a magical land...where wizards exist! Check it out! It's on Netflix and CrunchyRoll...haven't checked Hulu, but I'm betting it's there, too!
